Youth Council: What's it all about?

The Herefordshire Youth Council is made up of young people 11-18 years and their role is to represent the views and opinions of young people from across Herefordshire.

The Youth Council meets up to discuss and act on issues that matter to young people.  They work to get young people's voices heard by decision makers (like the county council) and people who provide services to young people.  The Youth Council aims to influence the way things work for the better.

Working for the benefit of young people across Herefordshire the Youth Council performs an important and often challenging role.  As a Youth Councillor you meet and deal with all kinds of people.  There are various meetings to attend, lots of planning and decisions to make, fun trips away, events to go to and speak at, radio broadcasts to do and much more!

Three examples of projects and activities that the current Youth Council have been involved in are:

As an elected member you will get the chance to meet new people, make loads of friends, and have the opportunity to develop confidence and new skills.

So if you have something to say about being a young person in Herefordshire, would like to help influence things for the better and think adults should listen up to young people's views...  Now is the chance to stand up and be heard!
