South Wye - Candidates' Statements

Hannah

I am outgoing, eloquent and bubbly.  I love drama, art and English.  I feel happy talking to other people of all ages and listening to them about their ideas.  I am confident and have performed in London, at the Courtyard and many more.  I am currently rehearsing for Wizard of Oz and Dracula Spectacular.  One of my goals would be to create a youth group that could go out and help those less fortunate than ourselves.  In this way young people would be seen in a more positive light in the community - for example, assisting the elderly and disabled or babysitting for mums!!  Another great way of raising our profile and helping others would be to organise some charity fundraising events such as bag packing, sponsored activities and stalls etc.  I would also like to make the school gym available to the public, run some drama clubs for the community in the holidays and help to organise more school trips to widen our experience.  Helping to prevent global warming is very important to me.

Millie Hope

I would like to represent Herefordshire Youth Council.  The things I would like to concentrate on are Bullying and Vandalism.  I like to work in teams and individually and I like to hear what other people think and their opinions.  I am really committed to the school, I represent the Hereford Academy Student Union which I really love to do and I join in a lot and always try my best.  I am a very sporty person so I do lots of sports clubs.  And I also like Music and loads of other subjects.  I would really love to be part of the Herefordshire Youth Council.

Vote for me and I will help every student with problems.  I want every single person to be happy at home and school.  I want to stop bullying for good!  I think the canteen should have a range of food.  I want vandalism to be stopped.  More bins, less sins!  Be happy and you’ll make everyone else happy.  I will help the community to stop bullying for good.  Help me help you.  Any situation I will try to help.  BE HAPPY vote for me!

A vote for me is a vote for a new safer feeling South Wye.  I will take your ideas and wishes and try to turn them into reality. I would like to improve public places and make a difference towards young people.  The things that I want to work on are; ASBO’s, public transport, South Wye and places for teenagers to go with their friends.  I am very passionate about what I do if there is something that I want done I will keep on trying till I get it done.  I don’t work as a one person band I want to be like a telephone for your ideas I like getting everyone involved in what I am doing.  I have had some experience in doing something for Bertie bear collecting teddy bears at my primary school to send to Romania to children who don’t have lots of things like we do.  I am actively involved in the school council and work with the eco and healthy schools sub group.  I am always up for a challenge and will take on anything that I get asked to do.  So if this is what you want for your area vote for me!

Rachel

Vote for me to become one of your youth councillors because I want people to come to school and be happy throughout lessons, and have a range of free things happening over weekends and school holidays e.g Tennis, Running races, boxing and football.  Also bullying and recycling are very important.  I will listen to anyones points and views because I am very committed.  So vote for me.

I would like to be able to represent South Wye and the views of everyone and you.  I feel that Herefordshire needs more facilities for young people and the perception of young people needs to change because we are not all yobs or troublemakers.  I’m a confident speaker and I will be able to get mine and your points across as well as respecting and listening to the views of others.  I will feedback to you about the meetings and make sure that you know about the progress and issues that are raised at the meetings because this council is for you.  I’m committed to making Herefordshire a better place for young people.

I would like to represent South Wye and be a part of the Herefordshire Youth Council because I believe that the society needs to be improved to support young citizens.  The views of young people are extremely important as they are the future generation and the changes will affect them the most.  As I regularly attend South Wye Girls Group I hear all different problems, such as bullying and young crime, these are major occurrences as these events happen worldwide, so these topics are top priority.  This is how the communities intercept youths badly.  However, to prevent youths from committing crime, I believe that the council should establish more community groups to get youths off the streets and to get involved.  I also think that residentials, active activities, are a good way to boost their confidence and keep them active.  So vote for me to represent South Wye.
